In Paris, I transform into a patisserie hunter, chasing sweet confections scattered across the city like butterflies in a floral meadow. Every day brings with it a new discovery. I draw each delight as it is before I slice it open to reveal what treasure is hidden inside.
I transformed this patisserie journal into a series of prints, each kissed by gold in a distinct manner tailored to the essence of that particular pastry.
I draw inspiration for my work with gold from kintsugi, the Japanese art of repair. As a philosophy, it embraces the flawed or imperfect and treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
